PE Racing Sim Pedals - The real Deal

PE Racing Sim Pedals - The real Deal

The wait for the Realistic PE Sim Pedals is almost over.

Our Sim Pedals are designed to replicate the real deal, your race car.

Over the years, we have been approached by several Simulator constructors to supply a turnkey solution for realistic SIM Racing pedals. We have investigated what the requirements would be and how we can best achieve this and deliver the ultimate technology for consumers and professionals. We intended to not only design a suitable system for Sim Racers, but also for realistic Race Driver training.

As like a real race car, the pedal assembly for driving simulators should be the real deal and be able to withstand the forces & punishment of a real race car.  Driving simulators should provide drivers with a accurate & instant response, especially during heavy braking & brake modulation.

There has been a variety of systems on the market. For the clutch & braking systems some manufacturers have built hydraulic systems in the attempt to replicate the true feel. Unfortunately, due to our knowledge and experience; whether it is hydraulic or mechanical, the hydraulic versions ultimately transmit energy to mechanical systems, which act as springs.

Everything in our world is flexible, thus everything behaves like a spring - it’s just the spring rate that changes. For Braking systems, we found that it’s the feeling of a rising spring rate which replicates the true feel. This is unlike to the Clutch systems which have a unique feeling of a slight rising then falling spring rate as the clutch system disengages and engages.

Our system, simple & effective.

It was due to the above that we undertook to simplify without any compromise. We developed an adjustable mechanical system which omits the hydraulic components. This reduced components and simplified the overall design. Our system is quite simple, but effective. We have inbuilt load cells which are both sensitive and reliable. For coarse adjustments of brake and clutch, only a circlip needs to be removed to swap out the “what we call springs”, fine adjustments are possible without the need for tools by simply adjusting the preload by hand. Any changes made will always require re-calibration, but that’s just a few clicks on your PC. Pedal dead zones, minimum and maximum force/ positions are all easy to calibrate.

Our system uses our real strong, compact & durable PE Racing Pedal Assemblies that come with unmatched Patented features. The pedal faces can be easily adjusted to suit the driver style and ergonomics without affecting any critical alignments or outputs. The mounting feet pivot to enable easy mounting at a range of inclined angles such as a floor that may be at an angle.

Our Brake system uses twin PE Sim Cylinders with the use of a real Balance Bar. Whether you use both outputs or just one, you can learn to use this to your driving advantage. For example, should only the front brake signal be supplied to your Simulator Software, then the balance bar position manipulates the signal output for the same brake pedal force. This can be an advantage to Gamers and Motorsport professionals. When track grip levels reduce, the Bias Knob can be adjusted for more rear brake, this reduces front braking (overall brake signal) for the same pedal force applied.

The Clutch system offers an over-centre feeling, which can be adjusted to feel where your clutch grab point would be. The overall clutch stiffness has a few options, then fine tuning is easy. The clutch lever has the pedal stop built in, and this set point can be easily adjusted by setting the pushrod length to suit.

The Throttle system is also the same as a real race car. The inbuilt spring has a positive feel and the foot pad can be easily positioned to suit the driver. We use the same linkage kit as for DBW setups, but simply swap the sensor with a single output type sensor.

We are still developing Brake pedal feedback, this will allow you to feel when wheels are locking. For Throttle control, we believe that it would be a benefit to feel when you are breaking traction. These features require information to be retrieved from the Simulator software and thus would be an addon feature which we will soon make available.

Stay in tune for more updates.
