PE RACING.

Motorsport Engineering and Manufacturing in Australia.

PE Racing is the motorsport division of Perusic Engineering, an Australian engineering company established in 2006. Since 2014, PE Racing has delivered motorsport engineering, motorsport electrics, and competition-grade component manufacturing for race teams, vehicle builders, and performance-focused customers in Australia and internationally.

We’re known globally for our competition pedal assemblies and braking system design, but our capability extends far beyond hardware. We combine in-house manufacturing with performance-driven analysis to help teams gain performance efficiently, reduce testing costs, and eliminate trial-and-error development.

Whether you need a proven motorsport product or engineering support to solve a specific performance problem, PE Racing can take your project from concept to reality.

Vehicle Dynamics, Braking Systems & Performance Development

At PE Racing, engineering decisions are backed by testing, development, and validation. Over years of motorsport work, we built our own software tools and methodology to better understand real design loads and vehicle behaviour—originally to validate component strength, then expanding into deeper vehicle performance analysis.

Our approach to performance development includes:

  • Suspension & steering kinematics (geometry and motion analysis)
  • Vehicle dynamics modelling (handling and balance development)
  • Tyre modelling (grip and load sensitivity considerations)
  • Aerodynamic effects (downforce and balance influence)
  • Thermal effects (system temperatures and performance consistency)

This integrated approach helps teams and builders make smarter changes faster—improving performance while reducing unnecessary testing and rework.

FAQs

What is a motorsport pedal assembly and why are they used in race cars?

A motorsport pedal assembly (often referred to as a race pedal box) is the mechanical system that transfers driver input to the vehicle’s brake, clutch, and throttle controls.

Unlike standard road car pedal systems, motorsport pedal assemblies are designed specifically for high-load braking environments and precise driver control.

Race cars use specialised pedal assemblies because they provide several key advantages:

  • Brake bias adjustment through a balance bar system controlling front and rear brake pressure
  • Optimised pedal ratio to generate the required hydraulic pressure with consistent pedal feel
  • Improved driver feedback and modulation, allowing more precise braking control
  • Serviceability and adjustability are important in racing environments where setup changes are common
  • Lightweight, compact construction suitable for custom race car packaging

In motorsport, braking performance and driver confidence are critical to lap time and vehicle stability. A well-engineered pedal assembly allows engineers and drivers to fine-tune braking behaviour and maximise control under extreme deceleration loads.

Do you manufacture in Australia?

Yes. PE Racing is an Australian manufacturer, with production and fabrication predominantly completed in-house for quality control and fast development.

Can PE Racing pedal assemblies be used for sim racing and driver training?

Yes. PE Racing competition pedal assemblies can also be configured for driver training and simulation applications, including professional sim racing environments.

In these setups, the hydraulic braking components used in race vehicles are replaced with PE Racing simulation cylinders, load cells, and electronic control interfaces. These systems measure pedal force while replicating the resistance and modulation characteristics of a real motorsport braking system.

Because the same motorsport pedal architecture and geometry are retained, drivers can train with a simulator setup that closely matches the pedal feel and ergonomics of their race car. This helps develop a consistent braking technique and driver muscle memory between the simulator and the track.

PE Racing offers dedicated sim racing pedal systems based on our patented motorsport pedal assemblies, designed to deliver authentic race-car pedal feel in high-end simulator environments.

These configurations are intended exclusively for driver training and simulator use outside physical motorsport competition.
